My 3 hens need a decent roof over their heads before winter. They got pretty soggy last year. We have a 6' x 9' by 6' high kind of rickety coop right now, with a tarp over the top. There are several banana trees and a wisteria vine next to/on top of it, which offer nice shade.
My vision is of a slightly larger coop with nesting boxes accessible from the outside, and a slightly pitched roof that also functions as a planter for strawberries (need about 6" of soil with drainage).
I'm open to other permaculture related ideas (multi-function) and aesthetic visions.
I live in Northeast Los Angeles.
